Does it sound stupid that I really, honestly do think lens flares are cool sometimes?
(Sometimes, not all the time.)

I saw a worker at Walmart last night who looked like an older Gus Grissom, but much taller. it was kind of surreal.
are time warps real because I swear to God I also saw a carbon copy of Kalpana Chawla at Starbucks one time, too… except her skin was a bit darker.
There was a guy on our trolley tour of DC today who looked like Apollo-era Mike Collins. Which was actually sort of ironic, because the last we saw of him, he was at the National Cathedral, a short walk from the school that Collins attended, St. Albans.
Also, there’s an editor/moderator on another site I visit who looks like Chris Ferguson. We actually joked that one of them must be a version of the other from a parallel universe.

Jumping Jupiter, I knew I’d forgotten something important about today, but I couldn’t remember what it was!
Thank you, TFNG!

For some reason, I find the discussion of whether or not it's possible to be "formerly disappeared" on the Talk page for George Mallory's Wikipedia article very funny.

so every day on my bus ride home, we pass by this storefront with a car designed to look like Lightning McQueen parked seemingly permanently out front. I don’t have the slightest idea as to why.
But because that’s not weird enough, my bus also often passes by a house where a VW bug decorated to look like Herbie is often parked in the driveway.
And more than once I’ve seen a van painted like the Mystery Machine on my way to school.
The people in my town just love their fictitious vehicles.
That is awesome.

I agree with Neil Tyson that NASA’s budget should be increased.
And I also agree with Robert Ballard that NOAA’s budget should always match NASA’s.

If you have the time the address would be:
Bowen and Kayleigh Schoepe

Mead, NE 68041
Awww! I’d love to send them one, maybe from DC this summer.

"As Only NASA Can": I always feel like I did this backwards...
Expected reading order:
We Seven -> Live From Cape Canaveral
Expected reaction:
“The Mercury Seven acted like THAT?!? How SHOCKING!”
My actual reading order:
Live From Cape Canaveral -> We Seven
My actual reactions:
“What a bunch of frat boys.” -> “But it’s nice to…
See, that doesn’t shock me, because I went into reading about space knowing that, since LFCC was the first book about Mercury that I read. I just get the feeling that it’s not supposed to be like that and you’re supposed to not go in knowing and be shocked.

At a party. I think this is from some sort of Navy/Naval Academy event, judging by how Lovell, Shepard, Stafford and Schirra are all showing off their class rings. I like to think that they went in the back, clanked them together like Captain Planet, and got superpowers.
I wonder what their individual powers would be? The mind boggles…
If it’s elemental, going by everything I’ve learned from mythology and cartoons…
Shepard = Fire. (Pretty obvious, I guess.)
Lovell = Water. (Calm, healing, etc.)
Schirra = Air. (Trickster, speed, invisible, etc.)
Stafford = Earth. (The only one left over, and I guess it fits with him being strong and determined.)
